Blog statistics – an open door with people in the background, symbolising the readers behind the numbers

Which Blog Statistics Number Should I Actually Care About?

Every Thursday, I’ve been looking at my blog statistics. Who is reading, what are they reading, and where are visitors coming from? But after a while, I noticed that I was almost writing the same post every week. So now I’m changing my Thursday routine. Instead of reporting all the statistics, I’m going to choose one single question.

🇸🇪 Swedish Vilken siffra i bloggstatistiken ska jag egentligen bry mig om?

🇬🇧 English version

I still enjoy looking at blog statistics, but I’ve noticed that I easily get stuck asking the same questions.

Who is reading?

What are they reading?

Where does the traffic come from?

And after a while, those questions don’t really tell me anything new.

So now I’m going to do things differently.

Blog Statistics – One Question Every Thursday

I’ll still look at the statistics.

But instead of writing about everything, I’ll choose one question that makes me curious.

It could be:

Why does an old post suddenly come back to life?

Which posts do people find through Google?

Does anyone read my English posts?

What happens to a blog post after a month?

Is there something I thought would become popular that almost nobody read?

Then the statistics are no longer the subject themselves.

They become the tool that helps me find the question.

Between the Lines

Maybe this is also part of developing a blog.

Noticing when a routine has served its purpose.

I don’t have to keep writing the same kind of Thursday post just because that’s what I’ve always done.

I can change it.

So Thursdays are staying.

The statistics are staying too.

But from now on, we begin with one question:

What do I actually want to understand this week?
