Another morning begins in our motorhome, LVL². We are still at Hanatorp Camping. Today, we are heading home, but perhaps I will have time for the swim that did not happen yesterday.

A Second-Hand Shop Full of Treasures
Just outside the campsite, there is a second-hand shop. We went inside yesterday to have a look, and it really was a shop with very reasonable prices. It was filled with beautiful furniture and all sorts of other things.
If I had brought a trailer – and it is probably a good thing that I did not – I could have bought both a table and a beautiful writing bureau. But as I said, we do not have a trailer with us. That is probably just as well because we do not have room for lots of extra furniture.
If I were furnishing a new home today, however, that shop is where I would go. Goodness, they had so many beautiful things!
There is something special about second-hand shops. The objects have already lived one life and are waiting to become part of someone else’s. At the same time, I sometimes need to remind myself that just because something is beautiful and inexpensive does not mean it has to come home with me.
The Lake at Hanatorp Camping That I Did Not Swim In
I felt a little unwell yesterday and was dizzy. The lake was only a few hundred footsteps away, but there was no swim for me.
You never regret a swim – only the swims that never happened.
Even so, I did not dare to walk down to the lake. I was afraid that I might fall, so the swim had to wait. It was actually the wisest decision at that moment, even though part of me was still longing for the water.
I feel better today, so perhaps I will take a dip before we leave. We will see what my body tells me. Sometimes it takes courage to step into the water. At other times, it takes more courage to stay out and listen to your body.
I have previously written about why I often say that you never regret a swim. Swimming is not only about the water itself. It is also about the moment, being present and the feeling that stays with you afterwards.
Time with My Dear Cousin Passes Too Quickly
My dear cousin and his wife live here at the campsite during the summers. It is always such a joy to see them.
Being able to spend time with them is one of the things that makes our visits to Hanatorp Camping particularly meaningful to me.
Whenever we meet, the hours pass far too quickly and our time together always feels too short. Some people require no effort to be around. The conversations simply begin, and suddenly several hours have passed.
They actually live close to the campsite and also work nearby. Every now and then, they go home to do their laundry and wash the dishes.
Talk about capturing summer and making the most of each day, even while continuing to work as usual. They do not have to wait for their holidays to enjoy campsite life. Instead, they allow the campsite to become part of their everyday lives.
When August Reminds Us How Quickly Summer Passes
Today, we are going home. August has arrived, and this year’s motorhome days are slowly beginning to draw to a close.
Now is the time to make the most of what remains and head out on the road, even on those occasions when we do not initially feel like going. The trips we have taken despite that initial reluctance have almost always turned out to be really enjoyable.
Perhaps the desire does not always have to come first.
Sometimes it arrives after we have packed the last few things, climbed into the motorhome and started driving. The resistance may be there before we leave, but once we arrive, it often feels obvious that this was exactly what we needed.
This is not about forcing ourselves to do everything. It is more about noticing whether our tiredness genuinely needs rest or whether we are simply struggling with the effort required to get started.
Motorhome Life Is About More Than the Destination
For me, motorhome life is not only about where we go. It is about waking up somewhere new, spending time with people we care about and discovering things we had not planned to find.
Like a second-hand shop filled with furniture that almost came home with us.
Like a lake waiting for a swim.
Like hours spent with people that feel far too short.

Making the Most of the Days That Remain
August does not mean that summer is over. There are still days to capture, journeys to take and moments in which to be fully present.
We may not need to do everything, but we can make the most of what is actually in front of us.
Perhaps I will swim before we head home. Perhaps I will not. Either way, we have had another morning in LVL², time with people we love and a weekend that turned out well – even though the desire to leave home may not have been there at first.
Yesterday has already settled into history. Tomorrow waits further ahead. But right now – this is where life happens.
