A Day on the Road – From Otta to Vegset
We’ve now arrived in Vegset, after driving around 430 kilometers today – from Otta over the mighty Dovrefjell. Along the way, we made several stops – to refuel, eat, and take in the beautiful landscape. There’s always something to explore when driving through Norway.
Dovrefjell was especially striking – vast, rugged and majestic. A place where the silence itself feels sacred.
Fish Burgers and a Gnat Invasion
Once we got to the campground, we prepared some fish burgers. Our plan was to eat outside, but we were quickly ambushed by biting gnats – tiny, relentless and absolutely everywhere. We fled into our LVL² camper, but unfortunately, the little beasts followed us in. It was itchy, annoying, and downright gross.
Norway in Images – Fjords, Mountains and Roadworks
We managed to snap a few photos during the journey. Norway is breathtaking – a postcard in motion. Towering mountains, shimmering fjords, rivers and valleys… sometimes all at once. It’s a country that truly makes you pause.

That said, roadworks are everywhere right now. Nearly every few kilometers, you’ll encounter cones, signs, and reduced speed zones. But the roads are in excellent condition, so it’s hard to complain.
Diesel Prices and Random Observations
One curious thing we noticed: diesel prices vary a lot depending on location. In places with several gas stations, the price is often slightly lower – maybe a kind of quiet competition. A small but interesting detail.
Weather and Winds in the Norwegian Highlands
Right now the weather is mixed – between 13 and 16 degrees Celsius depending on altitude. Up in the highlands of Dovrefjell, the air was crisp and cool. In the valleys, it felt a bit warmer. You can really feel you’re traveling among the peaks – the air is fresh and bright.
