The day began early for me, at 6:00 a.m., with Emilia joining me by half-past six. We enjoyed breakfast under the awning, everyone getting exactly what they wanted. The grandchildren were bubbling with excitement to meet real cowboys. After breakfast, we made sandwiches to bring along for our adventure.
First Stop: The Wild West
#WildWest #TrainRide #Exciting
Our adventure began at 10:30 a.m., and we found parking quickly. We were welcomed by the Dalton Brothers, which Alfred found very exciting. We took the train to Mexico early, with Alfred wide-eyed and thrilled. Our train host created an amazing atmosphere.
The mission was to pick up Old John – but he had died, and frightening outlaws took over the train. One outlaw lost interest after discovering that my bottle only contained water. Thankfully, the train hosts took care of the situation, much to Alfred’s relief.
In Mexico, we stepped into the church and were scolded for keeping our hats on. We were told that if we wished to stay, we had to take them off – which the children promptly did.
The Children’s Wild West Day
#KidsAdventure #SunnyDay #GoldRush
This was a day to remember for the little ones. They panned for gold, robbed a bank and a candy shop, and even took shots at the Mexican military. They danced line dance with Lucky Luke and the Dalton Brothers.
With temperatures nearing 30°C, the day was hot, but we had all applied sunscreen – even I covered my arms and legs. By two o’clock, I was getting tired, but the children wanted to stay in the Wild West a bit longer. At four, we were all ready to head toward the exit.

A Quick Stop in Värnamo
#Shopping #NewSwimwear #SwimFun
The kids wanted to go swimming, but Emilia’s swimsuit was too small. We drove to Värnamo to buy her a new one. Afterwards, she and Alfred happily played in the water. Värnamo turned out to be quite a large town – charming to stroll through, hearing the Småland dialect in the air.
Back Home Again
#JourneyHome #Packing #CozyEvening
Now I’m sitting outside under the awning of our motorhome, Lvl², writing these words to the soundtrack of birdsong and the warm morning sun. Today we will leave this place and head home – with 28°C expected, we’re grateful for our AC.
Beds will be made, chairs and tables packed away. Tonight, I’m looking forward to relaxing under our lovely pavilion. Grandma is tired but happy – grateful to have given the older grandchildren this trip, and that the little one enjoyed it too. But now, I long for home – to do the laundry, fix the car for the next trip, and unwind in the pavilion.

Reflection
It’s in those days, filled with both play and logistics, that family bonds grow stronger. When we share experiences and laughter, we create memories that last a lifetime. Seeing the joy and curiosity of my grandchildren makes every early morning and every sun-warmed afternoon worth it.
AHA – Between the Lines
This post is about more than just a day in the Wild West. It’s a story about giving time, creating experiences, and seeing the world through the eyes of children – where adventure is always just around the corner.
