I’ve been awake for a while, and just learned something new – thanks to AI.
What I figured out today was how to upload a file and insert it into my blog settings. And I did it in an easier way than before.
Now, I wouldn’t call myself a computer expert, but I can fiddle with a bit of “kord” (yes, I mean code – my way).
Or at least, I now know how to upload a text file in WordPress.
It’s not the headlines – it’s the stuff under them
Now that I’m 60 years old, I realize that when it comes to blogging, it’s not the headlines I need to master.
It’s the content underneath them that matters most.
Better late than never. But at least I’ve finally woken up to it – and honestly, I’m getting kind of good at making the blog do what I want.
Little by little, that fear of code is turning into something closer to… well, not quite comfort – but at least not panic.
Soon I might even run a class for fellow noobs.
Paper straws and fast food frustration
Speaking of noobs – let me confess that I’m also one when it comes to paper straws.
You know, those ones they give you at Max, McDonald’s, and all the other fast-food chains.
Do we actually like paper straws?
Do we enjoy eating ice cream with those wooden “spoons”?
Honestly, I don’t. Not even a little.
A luxury shake turns into a mini adventure
Yesterday after a shopping trip with my daughter, we decided to swing by Max for a luxury shake.
We were so tired that we chose to order from the drive-thru instead of going inside – which is what I usually do when I’m off work. If I’m at work, the kids always want to go through the drive-thru.
So there we were, sitting in the car, scrolling the menu, slowly moving forward in line.
And right before we got to the pay window, I looked at my daughter and said:
– Wait a minute… aren’t we supposed to order before we reach the cashier?
She looked at me – and we burst out laughing.
When we reached the cashier, the guy asked what we had ordered.
We had to admit: we completely missed the most important part – actually ordering.
He laughed and said:
– Sorry, but you’ll need to take another lap around and order at the speaker.
So we did.
This time, we stopped and shouted clearly into the speaker that we wanted one strawberry shake and one latte shake.
We pulled up, got our drinks, and drove off.
And then it all fell apart…
And here’s where things went sideways.
Tell me – how are you supposed to drink a luxury shake with real strawberry bits through a paper straw?
For me, it was completely impossible.
I feel like I need a week-long course in how to drink a shake using paper straws.
Seriously – do Max or McDonald’s offer one?
The whole thing clogged up and the straw started collapsing. I got shake all over my fingers, my sweater, and everything around me. Disaster.
Maybe it’s the Green Party that runs those courses? Because there’s no way I’m passing that exam.
Improvisation with a hopeless tool
In the end, I folded the straw in half and tried to eat the shake like it was a flimsy, poorly made spoon.
Is there anyone out there who can actually drink a thick shake through a paper straw?
One thing’s for sure – I’ve learned my lesson:
From now on, I’m carrying a bamboo or steel straw in my bag at all times.
Because this experience? Not even close to functional.
Here I am – the noob.
Signing off – and sewing some curtains
That’s it for today.
A whole blog post about a straw… how did that even happen?
Today I’m heading over to my daughter’s place to help her hem some curtains.
Wish me better luck than I had with the shake.
Thanks for reading!
And hey – if you have any tips or life hacks for drinking a Max milkshake with a paper straw, I’d love to hear them.
If you’ve mastered this skill – I am seriously impressed.
