From mountains to fjords – the journey to Vegset in Norway was a day full of contrasts. We drove from Otta across the raw beauty of Dovrefjell, past fjords and endless roadworks, before finally reaching Vegset. A 430 km trip where grand landscapes were mixed with fish burgers, diesel stops, and a stubborn invasion of gnats.
A Day on the Road – from Otta to Vegset
We arrived in Vegset after a long day on the road. From Otta to Vegset – about 430 kilometers. The day was filled with mountains, roadside cafés, and fuel stops.
The Majesty of Dovrefjell
We passed Dovrefjell, one of Norway’s most stunning mountain areas. The nature there is grand, raw, and silent in a way that almost feels tangible.
Fish Burgers and Gnat Invasion
When we reached the campsite, we made fish burgers. The plan was to eat outside, but as soon as we sat down, the gnats appeared – in swarms! They drove us inside our little LVL², but unfortunately, some followed along.

The journey to Vegset is not only about nature, but about taking in both the grand and the ordinary. When I notice the small and the vast at the same time, something stirs within me – a sense that life is greater than just the moment I’m standing in.

Traveling in Norway means shifting between magic and ordinary life. One moment breathtaking mountain views, the next swarms of gnats at dinner. Maybe that’s what makes the trip alive and real – the beauty and the bother, side by side.

Från fjäll till fjord – resan till Vegset i Norge blev en dag fylld av kontraster. Vi körde från Otta över Dovrefjälls karga vidder, vidare förbi fjordar och vägbyggen, innan vi landade i Vegset. En resa på 43 mil där naturens storslagenhet blandades med fiskburgare, dieselpauser och en envis knottinvasion.
Nu har vi landat i Vegset efter många mil i bilen. Från Otta till Vegset – ungefär 43 mil har vi åkt idag. Det blev en heldag med storslagna vyer, fjäll, vägkrogar och dieselpauser.
Dovrefjälls storslagna natur
Vi passerade Dovrefjäll, ett av Norges vackraste fjällområden. Naturen där är mäktig, karg och tyst på ett sätt som nästan går att ta på.
Fiskburgare och knottinvasion
När vi kom fram till campingen lagade vi fiskburgare. Planen var att äta ute, men så fort vi satte oss dök knotten upp – i massor! De drev in oss i vår lilla LVL², men tyvärr följde de med oss in.
Norge i bild – fjordar, fjäll och vägbyggen
Norge är som ett levande vykort. Fjäll, hav, fjordar och vattendrag – ibland allt på samma gång. Det är mäktigt, även om vägarbeten bryter av idyllen här och där.
Dieselpriser och små reflektioner
Dieselpriset varierar i Norge. På orter med flera mackar kan det skilja några ören – en sorts dold prismatchning längs vägen.
Väder, vind och vardag i Norge
Just nu är det växlande molnighet, runt 13–16 grader i fjälltrakterna. Luften är frisk, nästan kristallklar, särskilt uppe på Dovrefjäll.

Resan till Vegset handlar inte bara om naturen, utan om hur man tar in både det storslagna och det vardagliga. När jag ser det lilla och det större samtidigt, händer något inom mig – en känsla av att livet är större än bara ögonblicket jag befinner mig i.
Reflektion
Att resa i Norge är att växla mellan magi och vardag. Ena stunden fjällvidder som tar andan ur en, nästa stund knott som förstör kvällsmaten. Men kanske är det just kontrasten som gör resan levande och verklig.
