Monday morning. And my thoughts circle around something as simple as a cast iron frying pan – and maybe not so simple after all.

Monday morning.
Yes, it’s here.
But I am somewhere else.
Because I’m on a mission.
The Social Services… I think that’s what it’s called.
Hmm, maybe I’ll get corrected now – maybe that’s not even the right name.
But those of you who know me, or have read my blog before, already know:
I’m not the kind of person who puts a lot of energy into titles.
And here’s the proof.
I honestly don’t care what it’s called.
👉 I care about the human behind the title.
That’s where my attention lives.
That’s where my interest is.
🛒 Cast iron frying pan – the search continues
Second weekend in a row, we head into town.
The goal? To buy a frying pan.
And just like last weekend…
we come home without one.
But – we did find one.
At Elgiganten.
And it was really… beautiful.
One of those pans that just feels right at first glance.
We both liked it.
🍳 Cast iron frying pan instead of coating
We’ve left those coated and “titanium” pans behind a long time ago.
Instead, we go for:
- Cast iron
- Solid, heavy pans
- Things that last over time
There’s something special about cast iron.
It holds the heat.
It works on the grill.
It gets better the more you use it.
💸 When “frugal me” says stop
But… the price.
2300 SEK.
And that’s where it stopped.
👉 Around 1000 – yes
👉 2300 – no
Not because it wasn’t nice.
But because it wasn’t right.
So we went home.
Without the pan.
🍳 Lucky after all – when we read more
And you know what…
it was probably a good thing we didn’t buy it.
Because when we looked it up more carefully,
it turned out it wasn’t cast iron at all.
It was made of cast aluminium with a coating.
Good – absolutely.
But not what we’re looking for.
We’ve already moved on from that.
We want something that lasts.
Something that can handle life.
Something that only gets better with time.
👉 Cast iron. For real.
Sometimes…
not buying something is actually the right choice.
🌱 But we didn’t come home empty-handed
Because that’s how it is.
You go out to buy one thing…
and come home with something else.
This time:
- Plants to grow
- Protection for the new grill

- A small cast iron pan for the grill

And that little pan…
actually felt just right.
🔥 Cast iron on the grill – a simple everyday luxury
Last winter, my husband bought a cast iron oven dish.
And it has been used.
Potatoes on the grill.
Heat that stays.
Nothing breaking.
Cast iron does its job.
Stable. Quiet. Reliable.
A bit like life when it’s at its best.
🧭 The search continues
But that real frying pan…
the sauté pan…
We haven’t found it yet.
That cast iron frying pan we’re actually looking for
will have to wait a little longer.
So there will probably be another trip.
And maybe life is a bit like that too.
You search.
You try.
You come home without what you planned…
But with something else.
💬 A question for you
Do you also have things you keep looking for –
but never quite bring home?
✨ Reflection
This post isn’t really about a frying pan.
It’s about knowing what you want –
and daring to wait until it feels right.
Maybe that’s how it works…
👉 that the right cast iron frying pan shows up when the time is right.
🧡 AHA – between the lines
I’m showing something important here.
👉 I choose substance over surface
👉 Quality over impulse
👉 Feeling over buying
And sometimes I wonder if that’s my ADHD.
But maybe it’s also something else.
👉 Experience
👉 Pausing enough times
👉 Learning that not everything that attracts you is what you actually need
And that’s where something settles.
It’s not just ADHD.
It’s:
👉 growth + life + working on yourself
