Kalle Baah in Gothenburg – music, mojitos and a night to remember

Now I’m sitting here back home again after a night with Kalle Baah in Gothenburg.
Curled up on the sofa in the living room, with my feet tucked underneath me.

My body feels tired after all the swaying and dancing yesterday.
Kalle Baah – the rhythm was incredible and they were so, so good.

“Bulleri bulleri bock, hur många horn står opp…”

We had such a lovely day yesterday.
The kind of lovely that still lingers in your body the next morning.

And maybe most of all because the kids wanted to treat us to an evening together and spend their Friday with us. It became more than just a gift. It became a memory.

Introduction – when an evening becomes more than just an evening

Sometimes it’s not the thing itself that matters the most.

Not the food.
Not the music.
Not even the place.

But the feeling that someone wants to create something meaningful together with you.

And that was exactly what this evening became.

Dinner at Taverna Efessos – both praise and criticism

First we went to Taverna Efessos for dinner.

A really pleasant place with very good food.

But when we were about to order dessert, the waitress informed us that we only had about fifteen minutes left before the next reservation would arrive. And honestly, that upset me a little.

I have no problem at all with limited seating times or booked tables. That is completely fine. But then the staff also need to make sure they check in with the guests often enough so people have time to order everything they want before the time runs out.

Because when we wanted dessert and maybe one last little drink, it suddenly became stressful instead.

That was the small downside of the evening.

But now for the praise.

What food.

We ordered both starters and main courses, and even though we were six people, the bill ended up around 2000 SEK including beer and wine. I honestly thought that was very reasonable.

And the food… it was beautifully prepared.

My own tzatziki is probably still slightly better than the one we had yesterday – but those chicken skewers?

Absolutely heavenly.

I honestly don’t think I’ve ever had chicken skewers that good before.

The vegetables were fresh and crisp. No tired tomatoes that should have been turned into tomato sauce the day before. Everything tasted fresh.

The hummus, potato spread and aubergine dip were soft and smooth in flavor. And the olives…

There really is a difference between olives and olives.

I could probably have sat there eating olives until I was full.

There was so much food that even the youngest one left food on his plate.

Licor 43, a taxi app and heading to the concert

After dinner we continued on to a brewery.

The others drank beer, but I don’t drink beer, so instead I had a Licor 43 with milk. And honestly – it was made with vegan milk and I almost think it tasted even better than with regular milk.

Then it was time to head to the concert by taxi.

Or well… I’m not even sure if it was a regular taxi service.
Everything was booked through an app and it was a bit cheaper than ordinary taxis. Maybe they had fixed prices or something similar.

Either way, it worked perfectly – and the drivers were really friendly too.

Kalle Baah Gothenburg – what a vibe at Jacy’z

Once we arrived at Jacy’z Hotel & Resort I was served the best mojito I have ever had.

And what a lovely place it was.

The concert with Kalle Baah almost felt like a private performance.

What a vibe.

Seriously… what a vibe.

The youngest one also bought a vinyl record for my husband, so there will definitely be more reggae playing on the record player here at home.

There weren’t that many people there, but those of us who were there – we knew exactly why we came.

“Små små svarta änglar…”

All the songs I love were played.

And I ended up taking so many steps during the evening.

The evening with Kalle Baah in Gothenburg truly became something special.

A night worth carrying with you

It became a completely perfect evening.

So warm.
So enjoyable.
So lovely that our children wanted to do this together with us.

They wanted to give my husband an experience as a birthday present – and they truly did.

And in the middle of all of that, the youngest one and his girlfriend also received their birthday gifts yesterday.
Both of them celebrate birthdays in May, and his girlfriend actually turns older today, on May 9th.

They received a Ninja ice cream machine from us, our daughter and her partner – and they became so happy.

It was almost as lovely to watch their joy as it was to experience the evening itself.

I honestly think there will be a lot of homemade ice cream made in that home from now on.

Now all that remains is the regular birthday celebration here at home when my husband’s actual 60th birthday arrives and he will be properly celebrated.

But this evening…
I think it will stay with me for a very long time.

Kalle Baah in Gothenburg gave me exactly the kind of rhythm and joy I needed.

Reflection

Sometimes love is not big words.

Sometimes love is:
a reserved dinner table, a concert ticket, a vinyl record and people choosing to spend their time with you.

And maybe those are exactly the kinds of evenings that stay with us the longest.

And maybe the very best part of all was seeing my husband so happy while also feeling that life can still surprise you with evenings you want to carry with you for a long time.

Sometimes we need evenings like this to truly understand how much love actually exists around us.

AHA – between the lines

This post is not really only about food or music.

It is about feeling seen.
About being part of something warm and alive together with people you love.

And somewhere between the reggae rhythms, the mojitos and the music is also gratitude – gratitude that life can still surprise us with beautiful evenings.

Questions for you reading 💭

Do you have a concert or evening that still stays in your body long afterward?

And what means the most to you really – the actual gift or the time spent together?

Have you also experienced a place where the food was amazing but the service slightly ruined the feeling?

We humans need evenings like this

Maybe this is what we humans are truly longing for.

Not perfect lives.
Not huge things all the time.

But evenings where we laugh together, eat good food, listen to music and for a little while feel that life is actually pretty beautiful in the middle of ordinary everyday life.

And maybe we sometimes forget how important moments like these are – until we sit there the next day with tired legs, music still inside the body and a heart that feels a little warmer than before.
