Motorhome at Lunnedet Camping Karlskoga surrounded by forest

Lunnedet Camping Karlskoga – a small camping gem in the forest

Today I woke up in Örebro County, even though we first thought we were in Värmland. The road signs told a different story and eventually we ended up in Karlskoga, more specifically at the small campground called Lunnedet Camping and Event.

And I have to say it right away – I fell in love at first sight. 🌿

A small cozy campground hidden in the forest, right beside the lake. The service buildings are clean and fresh, the showers are free and the price is more than reasonable. That honestly surprised me. The staff here are also incredibly kind and welcoming.

We got lost right from the beginning

When we arrived, we actually drove the wrong way at first. Or maybe the right way – we just passed the reception because it was located a little further away. There was both a café and a restaurant there. Something was wrong with the card machine, so the payment had to be invoiced instead.

Honestly, that was perfectly fine with me. It worked out really well.

A campground in the middle of the forest

After checking in, we drove a bit further into the woods where the actual campground was located.

Some of the spots have gravel, making it easy to park even with a motorhome. The pitches are spacious and airy and there really are no better words for it than:

So cozy.

Once we had settled in, we brought out dinner. My husband had shrimp and I had crayfish. Large beautiful crayfish he had bought at Maxi in Uddevalla for a very reasonable price.

Lily of the valley, piers and blueberry bushes

After dinner we walked a few hundred meters down to the swimming area. There were piers, benches and little paths winding through heather and blueberry bushes.

And there – right at the edge of the forest – small lily of the valley plants were growing.

I truly love lily of the valley flowers.
So fragile and yet so beautiful.

They had only just started appearing, tiny little beginnings of blooms, but I can already imagine how wonderful it will smell here once they fully blossom.

There are walking trails everywhere in the forest and I already feel this is absolutely a place where you could stay for several days. Maybe even a whole week just exploring the surroundings slowly and peacefully.

Restaurant and gluten-free options

Near the restaurant you can enjoy good food at reasonable prices. I have not yet checked if they offer gluten-free options, but these days most restaurants usually do.

It used to be much harder finding gluten-free food in the past.

Lunnedet Camping Karlskoga – a place to breathe

Some places do not scream for attention.
They simply whisper:

“You can land here for a while.”

Lunnedet feels like that.

Not big.
Not fancy.
Just calm, kind and close to nature.

And sometimes that is exactly what we need.

A place we would gladly return to

Some places feel beautiful in the moment.

And then there are places where something inside you softens and settles a little deeper.

Lunnedet feels like that kind of place to me.

A place where I already know:
I want to come back.

Not because it is luxurious or modern in any dramatic way, but precisely because it is simple and beautiful at the same time. There is a stillness here that seems to live in almost every corner of the campground.

In the forest.
By the piers.
Between the blueberry bushes and lily of the valley flowers.
In the clean service buildings.
In the kindness of the people working here.

It feels as if the place itself is breathing.

As if it invites us to slow down, sit a little longer with our coffee and simply enjoy being exactly where we are for the moment.

And maybe these are exactly the kinds of places we need more of today.

Lunnedet Camping Karlskoga feels like one of those places that does not try to impress anyone. It does not have to, because nature has already created something beautiful here. A small wonder in the middle of the forest.

🌿 A question for you reading this

Do you have a place you return to for peace and quiet?

A campground, a lake, a forest or maybe just a small place where your body gets to rest from everything else for a while?

Feel free to share in the comments. I think we humans sometimes need to share our peaceful places with each other. 💚

🌱 Reflection here at Lunnedet Camping Karlskoga

Sometimes we do not realize how tired we have been until the body finally begins to relax.

There is something special about nature, silence and those small simple moments that do not require performance. A cup of coffee outside the motorhome. A walk between blueberry bushes and lily of the valley flowers. The sound of water further away.

Maybe that is where we slowly find our way back to ourselves again.

Not through huge life changes.

But through small gentle breaths in everyday life.

And maybe we need to remind each other that places like these are actually important. Not luxurious — important.
