Yesterday morning my husband and I went for a walk here at Lunnedet in Karlskoga and honestly… there was so much to see. The whole place breathes history and nature.

Sometimes you arrive somewhere that almost feels too beautiful to describe.
As if words are not quite enough.
The entire area feels alive with history, and my husband walked around taking photographs almost the whole time. For once I did not have to be the one standing in front of the camera. Instead, nature became the center of attention — and what a nature it was.
Lunnedet Karlskoga and Seas of Lily of the Valley

There were endless fields of lily of the valley, cowslips, hepatica flowers and so many other beautiful wildflowers.
The lily of the valley spread out like soft white carpets between the trees, and their scent lingered in the air as we walked along the paths. Tiny almost fairy-like flowers that looked as though they belonged in old stories rather than in real life.
And everywhere you could hear water.
The Lock at Lunnedet Karlskoga – History That Still Feels Alive

There is also the old canal lock and historic buildings showing how life once looked here. You can almost feel history surrounding you as you walk through the area.
There is something special about places where people have lived, worked and passed through for generations. Something that stays in the ground and in the trees.
And then there was the oak tree.
Apparently it has been written about since the 1500s. An important discussion about removing a king is said to have taken place beneath that very tree. Just imagining people standing there hundreds of years ago talking about power, the future and important decisions makes the place feel even more special.
Lunnedet Karlskoga feels like a place where history and nature still live side by side.
The Oak Tree That Still Lives

The oak tree was hollow, and at some point someone had filled parts of the trunk with cement.
It was such solid craftsmanship — an attempt to save what could still be preserved. The cement had been shaped so skillfully that it almost looked like wood.
And still…
Despite cracks, damage and age, there were green leaves growing on the branches.
That fascinated me so much as I stood there looking at the tree.
As if the oak itself was trying to remind us of something important:
brokenness does not mean worthlessness.
Maybe sometimes the opposite.
Maybe what has carried a great deal through life becomes something worthy of protection, repair and respect for as long as there is still life left in the branches. 🌿
Nature Is Not Around the Corner – You Are Inside It

It is almost impossible to describe it any better than this:
experiences live here.
Nature is not just nearby here.
You are standing right in the middle of it.
Even though the weather shifted back and forth between wind, rain and chilly air, this day still felt absolutely wonderful.
The kind of day that feels worth both experiencing and writing about.
It is easy to understand why people return to Lunnedet Karlskoga year after year.
A Windy Barbecue Evening in Lunnedet Karlskoga
Today my husband made grilled food and I made the salad. 🌿
The salad tasted even better because much of it came from my own garden back home.
The tomatoes were store-bought this time, but the chives came from our garden before we left. There is something special about bringing a little piece of home with you, even when staying at a campground surrounded by nature.
But the wind…
We first planned to sit outside and eat, but it was blowing so hard the salad almost would have disappeared. So instead we climbed back into the motorhome and ate inside while the wind rushed around outside.
And honestly, that did not ruin anything at all.
If anything, it became even cozier. 🌿
Reflection
There are places that immediately do something to your body the moment you arrive.
As if your shoulders quietly relax without you even noticing it.
Lunnedet feels like that.
Not loud.
Not artificial.
Just nature, history, water and silence allowed to exist exactly as they are.
And maybe that is why you want to stay a little longer than you first intended.
But today it is time to pack everything together again, put the TV down on the bed, remove the coffee maker and take my seat in the passenger seat once more.
But who knows… maybe we will return here again someday because I truly have not had enough of this place.
Paradise feels too small a word.
Wonder feels too small too.
I honestly cannot find a word big enough to describe it.

Between the Lines – Lunnedet Karlskoga
Maybe that old oak tree was never only about a tree.
Maybe it was about people too.
About how life sometimes cracks us open in different places, and yet there can still be green leaves growing from the branches.
And maybe that is where some of the most beautiful things are found. 🌿

Yesterday has already come to rest in history, tomorrow waits further ahead.
But right now – this is where life happens. 🌿
