Morning in the motorhome – coffee, quiet and a weekend settling in

Morning in the motorhome – the coffee is right here beside me, and I sip it now and then.

Morning in the motorhome starts slowly, with coffee, quiet and the feeling of being exactly where I need to be. The coffee is right here beside me, and I sip it now and then.

Around me, people are snoring – and I suspect that I might have been snoring too before I woke up.

I woke up here.
Here is Mellerud, in LVL^2.
And it’s warm and cozy.
Maybe even a little too warm…
Or maybe it’s just me having trouble keeping a steady body temperature.

🚐 Morning in the motorhome – the first nights in LVL^2

We’ve slept in LVL^2 for two nights now.
And everything works as it should – even though we’ve missed things we probably shouldn’t have missed.

But that’s how it is.
That first time sleeping in the motorhome…

That’s when you realize everything you forgot to pack.

🌊 A walk down to the lake

morning in the motorhome LVL2 by lake in Mellerud with cold water and early spring

The ice still lingers here and there – spring is still hesitating.

Yesterday, my husband and I took a walk down to the lake.
There was still ice in places, and it didn’t feel very inviting for a swim just yet.

A few men were working down by the water.
They were gathering branches and twigs – probably for an Easter bonfire.
Two four-wheelers with trailers went back and forth, unloading onto a growing pile.

When we walked there, it was cold and cloudy.
But later in the day, the sun came out.

And then…
that feeling returned again.

🔥 Dinner outside the motorhome

We were able to sit outside and eat.

My husband grilled.
I had made a salad and tzatziki.
He also grilled some slices of bread.

On the bread, we added:
salad, shrimp, and a spicy sauce.

And it turned out… really, really good.

🎬 Evening calm and the simple things

After dinner, we did the dishes
and then went back into the motorhome.

We watched a movie – something about the mafia, Irish people, unions, communists, and the IRA.
After the movie, we found a series connected to it, so we kept watching.

The little guy joined in now and then,
with computer games, movies, peanut snacks and just… coziness.

I had a small glass of liqueur in the afternoon,
and a glass of wine that I slowly sipped during the evening.

Morning in the motorhome brings a kind of calm that is hard to find in everyday life at home.

🚗 Back home – but not quite the same

Today we’re heading home again.

Emptying the fridge,
bringing the laundry inside,
and life returns to normal.

But not completely.

Because something stays with us.

A weekend in the body.
A feeling of having been in LVL^2.
Of living a little slower.
A little closer.

🗳️ Thoughts on elections, responsibility and direction

Thinking about the film we watched – and the struggle people lived in there,
with dependencies, favors and exchanges – I was reminded.

Reminded of us.
Of now.
Of what lies ahead.

This autumn, we have an election to follow.

All of us, as citizens in this country,
have the opportunity to influence the direction Sweden will take over the next four years.

Do we want to continue on a path where the gaps grow wider?
Where it becomes more of a us and them?

Or do we want something else?

A society with more equal distribution.
Where even the smallest voice has a place.
Where children don’t have to go to school hungry.
Where elderly people like Märta receive the care they need.

Where healthcare, schools and social care are not worn down – but strengthened.

For me, this matters.

To vote.
To engage.
Not to stand on the sidelines.

🌿 Reflection

It’s not the big things that stay.

It’s the coffee, the snoring, the walk, the food, the evening.

That’s what becomes life.

💬 Your Voice: Between the Lines

What this is really about…
is not just a weekend in a motorhome.

It’s about safety.

Being in a place where nothing has to be perfect.
Where you can forget things, miss things – and still be okay.

But also something more.

A longing for a society that works the same way.
Where we don’t leave each other behind.
Where we don’t build distance – but closeness.

Where life has space, even when it isn’t perfect.

📍 About Mellerud and the area

Mellerud is a small town in western Sweden, close to Lake Vänern – one of the largest lakes in Europe.

The area is known for its calm nature, open landscapes and quiet surroundings.
Even in early spring, when the ice still lingers, there is something peaceful about being here.

We stayed with our motorhome (LVL^2), enjoying the simplicity of being close to the water, nature and just… slowing down.

🚐 Staying with a motorhome

Travelling with a motorhome in Sweden is quite easy and flexible.
There are many places where you can stay overnight, both at campsites and in nature.

For us, it’s not about luxury –
it’s about freedom, quiet mornings and living a little closer to life.
