You Are More Than Nonsense – When the Mirror Shows Something That Isn’t True

This is a text about self-worth and about that quiet whisper that says: you are more than nonsense, even when you don’t dare to believe it.

🇸🇪 Read in Swedish: Du är mer än trams – om att bli sedd när det gör ont

🌿 more than nonsense

Sometimes conversations begin lightly.
A bit of joking, words thrown back and forth without much thought.

I had one of those conversations the other day.

A person described their writing as nonsense.
Words that simply poured out without meaning.
Something easy to laugh off before anyone took it seriously.

But when I read those words, I saw something else.
Images. Emotions. Thoughts stumbling forward but still alive.

I said it.
That the words were not nonsense.

And somewhere in the space after that, it became quiet.

Woman looking into a mirror seeing a broken reflection and feeling more than nonsense

Sometimes we see something in the mirror that isn’t true — a reflection of doubt, shame and fragments. But behind the reflection there is always a living human being.

🌱 More Than Nonsense – When Nonsense Becomes a Shield

It feels safer to lean into nonsense.
To hide the fragile parts under something that sounds unimportant.

Because if it’s only nonsense, you don’t risk being seen.

But when someone gently scratches the surface we’ve been hiding under,
it hurts.
Exactly where it is meant to hurt.

And that is the strange thing.

Because within that pain something else lives.
Something bubbling.
Small circles slowly rising.

A hint of self-worth.
A thought that maybe, just maybe, what you carry isn’t nonsense.
But something alive.

And maybe that’s where it begins — in the thought that you are more than nonsense.

🌙 What Lingers Afterwards – When You Believe You Are Nonsense

I don’t know what settled after that conversation.
Maybe nothing.
Maybe a small movement that isn’t visible yet.

But I know what I carry with me:

That feeling unwell sometimes does not make us bad people.
That fragility is not a flaw.
And that sometimes it is enough that someone once said:

you are more than what you call nonsense.

✨ More Than Nonsense – When Self-Doubt Hurts

Perhaps the words that hurt a little are not always the ones that wound.
Sometimes they are the ones that reach you.

The ones that land where something fragile already exists.
The ones that touch a place you haven’t dared to visit yourself.

And when that happens, you may want to withdraw.
Laugh it off.
Call it nonsense.

But if you ever feel that something someone says hurts —
and you don’t quite dare to believe it —
know that something important might live there.

A small piece of words.
A gentle knock.

Maybe it isn’t proof that you are too much.
But a sign that you are more than you have dared to believe.

And if you allow yourself to stay in that feeling for a moment,
if you let those small circles rise,
they may carry something else one day.

A glimpse of self-worth.
A whisper of trust.

And maybe, just maybe, an insight:

that you are anything but nonsense.

🌾 Being Serious in a World That Laughs It Away

Perhaps I am someone who takes life and conversations too seriously.
Maybe I should laugh more, let words float past without staying in them.

But this matters to me.

Because I believe nonsense, jokes and irony often protect something fragile.

Someone is hiding.
Someone believes they are fake.
Someone thinks their feelings or creations don’t count.

And I sometimes wonder:
who among us is fake?

No one.

We live our lives.
And the person we are in our lives — messy, unfinished and imperfect —
is anything but fake.

Life hurts sometimes.
Life is not straight.
We do things we don’t understand, say words we wish we could take back and carry emotions that don’t always fit.

But no matter how it twists, what you’ve done or thought,
there is always a way back.

And that path begins where you begin.
In the quiet moment when you dare to believe you are not fake.
Not nonsense.
But alive.

Because the truth is simple, even if it’s hard to believe: you are more than nonsense.

🌾 Reflection more than nonsense

Sometimes we call something nonsense to protect the fragile parts within us.
But when someone sees more, it can both warm and hurt.
Maybe hope begins in that small ache.

💭 Between the Lines – more than nonsense

This text is not really about a conversation.
It is about vulnerability.

About how easily we diminish ourselves.
And how difficult it can be to accept that we have value even when we struggle.

✨ AHA – Between the Lines

The pain of being seen is not always a sign that something is wrong.
Sometimes it is a sign that something is true.

❓ A Question for You

Have you ever called something you created or felt nonsense — even though it meant more?

👉 Sometimes the journey is not only about stopping calling yourself nonsense, but about finding your way back to your value. I once wrote about that here:
Seeing your own worth – when doubt whispers

👉 When self-esteem weakens, it can feel like a mirror made of fragments. I wrote about that feeling here:
Self-Confidence Can Feel Like Shattered Glass
